Question
As salaamualaikum sheikh ayaaz. My question is regarding the last time for fardh prayer in fajr. Scenario : Sunrise time is 6:54am. I overslept due to some fatigue and woke up at 6:50 am. Now what should i do? Whether perform wudu and offer 2 units sunnah and 2 units fardh. Or i will wait for 15mins after sunrise and perform the fajr salaah. Kindly give detailed explaination Jazakallah khairan wa kaseera.
Answer
Wa'alaykumsalaam Wa Rahmatullah

When someone has missed a prayer though either sleeping or due to forgetfulness, he or she should pray it once he has woken up or remember it whether is it during the prohibited time or no. You pray your two sunnah and then the two fardh.

If the Muslim has an excuse, such as sleeping or forgetting, and he was not able to do the prayer on time, then he must make up the prayer when that reason no longer applies, even if that is at one of the times when prayer is disallowed. This is the view of the majority of scholars. See al-Mughni, 2/515.

The evidence for that is the words of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him): “Whoever sleeps and misses the prayer or forgets it, let him pray it when he remembers.” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 597; Muslim, 684)
