Can A believer who can’t prostrate due to leg injury or physically handicapped or whatsoever reaadon but can sit and pray become an Imam

Firstly i would advice to say the 'Salaam' in a complete form as it is more respectful. Baarak Allah feek.
Yes, a person who cannot bend due to valid excused may pray while sitting.
As far as Imaamah in concerned, if he is the most learnt in the Quran and no one else is better than him, then he may lead the prayer with the worshipers sitting as well behind him because the Imam is made to be followed as per the hadeeth of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him)
I would advice to select another Imam in order not to create any confusion for the worshipers who will come and join the congregation.
