Question
Salaam Alaikum Sheikh What is the importance of Masajid in Salah. Is Masajid mandatory for reading Salah like Wadhu. Is congregation at home equivalent to reading Salah with congregation at Masajid. He wants to read all 5 Fard prayers at home as he finds is more comfortable. Will his Salah be accepted There is a Hadit where it is said that if someone prays at home for no reason his house should be burnt. Could you pls clarify imporyance of Mosque Thank You
Answer
Wa'alaykumsalaam Wa Rahmatullah.

Praying in the Masjid for men who hears the azaan is compulsory as the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) even asked a man who was blind to attend the Masjid , this shows the importance. Allah say ' ... and to bow down amongst those who bow down...'

You even mention the part of the story when the prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) wished to burn down the house in which the men would stay and pray in the house without excuse.

If a man stays away from Jama'ah and pray alone at home, some scholars has classified it as a branch of hypocrisy. Therefore, a man who has no excuse has to pray his 5 daily prayers in the Masjid. If he has missed, then he may pray at home in Jama'ah or alone.

Praying at home in Jama'ah and praying at home in the Masjid are two different things, in these pandemic times, we pray at home in Jama'ah, we get full rewards. But in normal times, if we have the comfort or easiness to go to the Masjid but instead decide to prat at home, then this is not right.

As mentioned, tahiyyatul wudhu is a sunnah prayer, a prayer that you do after you performed wudhu.

If you performed wudhu during a time outside prayer, you may pray 2 rakaah known as tahiyyatul wudhu. But if it is salaah time, then you may start your salaah straight without doing the tahuyyatul wudhu. (it will be included in the fard salaah you performing).

I hope i've answered the question.
